Asian-Style Chicken and Lettuce Leaf Wraps

Asian-Style Chicken and Lettuce Leaf Wraps

Directions

  • Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Add the ground chicken and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned and cooked through (about 5-7 minutes).
  • Stir in the garlic and ginger and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  • Add hoisin sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes (if using). Stir to combine.
  • Mix in the water chestnuts and green onions, then cook for another 2 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  • Serve by spooning the mixture into lettuce leaves, folding them like a taco.

  • 1 tbsp (15 mL) vegetable oil
  • 1 lb (450 g) ground chicken
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp (15 mL) fresh ginger, grated
  • 1/2 cup (125 mL) hoisin sauce
  • 2 tbsp (30 mL) soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp (15 mL) rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp (5 mL) sesame oil
  • 1/4 tsp (1 mL) red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/2 cup (125 mL) water chestnuts, drained and chopped
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced
