Quick Mexican Tortilla Lasagna

Preheat oven to 350° F (180°C). Grease a 9-inch (23 cm) baking dish.

Cook beef and onion in a large skillet over medium-high heat, breaking up meat, for 5 minutes. Stir in seasoning mix, water and peppers. Simmer 5 minutes. Stir in tomatoes and beans. Heat through.

Layer 3 tortillas in prepared baking dish, overlapping as necessary. Spread half of meat mixture on top and sprinkle with half of cheese. Repeat layers once more with remaining ingredients.

Cover dish with foil and bake 30 minutes. Uncover and bake 10 to 15 minutes longer.



Add a tossed green salad and some crusty garlic bread to complete your meal.

Serve the lasagna with salsa and sour cream.

  • 1 lb (500 g) lean ground beef
  • 1 cup (250 mL) chopped onion
  • 1 envelope (1 ¼ oz/35 g) taco seasoning mix
  • ½ cup (125 mL) water
  • 1 green pepper, chopped
  • 1 cup (250 mL) diced fresh tomatoes
  • 1 can (14 oz/398 mL) HEINZ® Original Beans in Tomato Sauce or HEINZ® Deep-Browned® Beans in Tomato Sauce
  • 6 (6 inch/15 cm) flour tortillas
  • 2 cups (500 mL) shredded Tex-Mex blend cheese
